THE POCKET HOUSE

The "pocket house" designed by the Viennese architect Luna Perschl is a modular system created against the housing shortage for areas with disaster risk.

The aim of the project is to provide a sustainable solution in disaster areas that can be easily built by local communities. With this project, settlements for the town of Yabuki are being questioned again due to the damage caused by the earthquake in Fukushima province.

Pocket houses can be converted into temporary housing units designed from wood, or they can be combined to create public spaces. The distinctive roof of the "pocket house" is reminiscent of the catastrophic horizon, the emergency time is reduced as residents can quickly build their surroundings.
