In this project, audio requirements, geometric parameters, production constraints, assembly logic shaped the design. For example; this wall was completed during the pandemic with only two laser cutters. However, the underlying difficulties of producing these special panels without disposable molds or extra tools have been overcome. Before being brought to the gallery, the panels were prepared by mounting them on the slab.&nbsp;

Made by Baux from a new paper-like, plant-based material, the nine-panel series was developed in collaboration with Swedish industrial design studio Form Us With Love and scientists from the Royal Institute of Technology (KTH).The new chemical-free pulp material is based on over 25 years of research and is created from organically modified cellulosic fibres from sustainably harvested Swedish pine and fir trees.The team working with the manufacturer initially tried mixing shrimp shells, but these were not strong enough and a sustainable supply chain for this ingredient could not be found.Laser-cut patterns create nano-perforated surfaces inspired by origami paper folding techniques that allow sound waves to enter the panels and become trapped in the honeycomb chambers on the back.The technology once used in aircraft and spaceships keeps the use of materials to a minimum and creates no waste or pollution in the production process.Instead of dye, the acoustic pulp is coloured with non-genetically modified wheat bran, creating a palette of neutral colours.Believing that a sustainable future should be created, the design team states that the panels presented will be used for sound insulation and decoration in common environments such as offices, restaurants, schools and meeting rooms. &nbsp;

Architecture studio SO? has created a prototype of a floating home on the Golden Horn in Turkey's largest city that can be used as emergency housing after the earthquake, Istanbul. &nbsp;Golden Horn is naturally protected against tsunami and provides strategic sea route access that provides an important route for food and relief when congested roads are encountered.The prototype Fold and Float was created as part of the Istanbul Design Biennial 2018 to be used in emergency situations for up to six people after an earthquake. Fold and Float was designed by the Sevince Bayrak and Oral Goktas (founders of SO?) in response to the reduced amount of space for emergency shelter in Istanbul.The prototype consists of a floating pontoon made of concrete with a collapsible structure that serves as a shelter and contains fixed furniture. The superstructure can be folded so that it can be folded and stacked. It is designed to be easily installed and does not require skilled workers to build. While we may never know its true function, acoustic engineers at the University of Salford in Manchester may have unravelled some clues by creating a 1:12 acoustic scale model of the monument to determine how the sound was affected by the original 157 stone built-in 2200 BC.The results of research conducted at the University of Salford in Manchester showed how the stones found on the field improved musical sound and speech and helped clarify the voice by reflecting the voices of the participants. The study suggests that the sounds created inside the stone circle are actually designed for those who are in the same environment, rather than being broadcast to the outside.British historian Susan Greane explains: “The results show that the music, sounds, or percussion sounds made at the monument can only really be heard by those standing inside the stone circle, suggesting that any rituals that take place are intimate events. Woven Image company collaborated with designer Michael Young to create an acoustic panel collection that includes "technical decorations" based on algorithms. The acoustic panel collection, consisting of three styles, Muse Fluid, Muse Cloudy and Muse Mineral, was printed with patterns created using a software program called Grasshopper. Specially designed for floor-to-ceiling wall applications, the Muse series provides acoustic benefits by reducing echoing noise in common areas such as workplaces and accommodation environments."I really believe Muse is cutting edge technology," said British industrial designer Young. "It seems to me that an industrial design office will take a different approach than an artist or even a graphic designer to create a pattern." The Muse Fluid style is designed to mimic the movement of the ocean, consisting of multiple dots arranged in rows flowing across the panel to create a "wave-like" effect. The design of the Muse Cloudy consists of a series of different points combined into groups that resemble "clouds". The third design Muse Mineral has a crosshatch style design consisting of diagonal lines that vary between thicker and thinner widths across the panel to create a patchwork effect.Each of Woven Image's three designs takes its name from the baseboard on which they are printed, called Muse, made from polyethylene terephthalate (PET) with 68 percent recycled materials. Concrete sound mirrors used to prevent coastal attacks in the UK after World War I were captured by Piercarlo Quecchia in this photo series.Audio mirrors are passive disc-shaped structures used to reflect and concentrate acoustic waves. They were used in the 1920s to stop planes going to the beach. They were mostly constructed of concrete two to three meters in diameter and could be found on the southeastern and eastern coasts of England at one time.Quecchia wanted to show how these devices took an architectural form in its series called Sound Mirrors. He photographed the last 13 mirrors left on the English coast. "They represent an incredible demonstration of how sound can form a physical form: both the radius of curvature and the dimensions of the dishes are studied and designed according to the frequency of the sound they should reflect," said Quecchia.The precise shape and curve of the mirrors allow the operator to concentrate the sound in a single focal point from which to use microphones and headphones to listen. The dimensions are matched to the sound waves created by aircraft engines. Before the creation of advanced radar and electronic technologies, surveillance systems were simply an extension of the human senses. The giant audio mirrors, almost 100 years old, are now weathered and abandoned. The photographer hopes his photos will give them some dignity and value.Quecchia is currently located in Basel, where he works with an architecture studio, but continues photography as a freelancer. "For me, photography is essentially a tool for understanding and telling the truth. I focus mainly on architectural and social dynamics," he said. The task of the architect is to achieve a unique vision of spatial and acoustic experience together with the developer. In collaboration with the acoustics expert, Knack Studio develops modular dance niches that fit the existing pillar grid while also offering spatial partitions. Vibration echoes and propagation delays triggered by parallel surfaces by tilting the side and rear walls are avoided. In addition, wall and ceiling elements specially optimized and customized for electronic music contribute greatly to the acoustic quality of the space.Special focus is placed on the geometry of the inclined back walls. Lighting effects are mostly composed of classical theatre, stage and discotheque elements of the 70s and 80s, which were deliberately placed in the foreground. Both aesthetic and warm light tones allow them to be integrated into the creative concept. The second dance floor, 'plus', is acoustically isolated and has its own design language. A continuous river of "recesses" is drawn across the walls, with no noticeable beginning or end. this built-in landscape came to life with the light that turns into the sound of music. One of the major challenges in the short four-month planning period was developing an effective process for the generation and coordination of project implementation. THE MUSEUM CONVERTED INTO ACOUSTIC RESTO-CLUB

Japanese architect Noriyoshi Morimura created the private family home named 'Television House' in Suita, Osaka, Japan. Considering the possible effects of the earthquake as a priority, the design features a seismic isolator and a load-bearing assembly that firmly fixes large and cantilevered dwellings.The grounding podium layer - a bold, hard concrete mass - separates the dwelling from the street while developing a space hierarchy, determining the overall organization and appearance. The hovering dwelling that stretches across the landscape works together with a semi-enclosed courtyard and hollow base to define the entrance to the house.Accessed from below, the building provides visitors and residents with a gradual transition between the spaces. The residence, which is scattered on one floor and arranged around the inner courtyard, has an open living room. The kitchen and dining room are located at the front of the house, while the private bedroom is positioned at the back.&nbsp;

Designed by Flanagan Lawrence Architecture, 'Acoustic Shells', are reviving social life as an outdoor stage and a shelter in the sunken gardens of the Littlehampton coast of England. The concept of the project is based on the culture of "bandstrands" which was held for the first time in 1861 in the Royal Gardens in South Kengsington.&nbsp; &nbsp;The production and distribution of music started to be questioned as the new media trends of the 20th century became widespread. As the cinema and television activities in the parks and gardens lost their appeal, music in the other hand is now produced by everyone and can be played anywhere online or in public. According to Flagan Lawrence: '' In this context, Acoustic Shells bring back an old ideal, an architecture that can represent ‘sound’, and the people that made it.'' &nbsp;One of the two main shells serves as a reflective surface to project the sound of its performers on the stage to the audience in the garden, while the other shell faces the beach and forms a structure that visitors can stand under and listen to the sound of the sea. The Shell was built by applying sprayed concrete directly on the mesh reinforcement, and the majority of the structure is only 100 mm thick as it relies on a double curved geometry spanning the stage.These concrete sound mirrors, resembling white sand dunes, have been welcoming visitors since 2014, after winning an architectural competition in 2012.&nbsp; &nbsp;

Drawing attention with its landscape architecture, China's Wenchuan earthquake memorial museum was built in memory of those who lost their lives in the earthquake that killed about 70,000 people in 2008. The disaster was the country's most damaging earthquake in more than 30 years, so the Chinese Government commissioned the Tongj University Faculty of Architecture to build the museum.Designed by Cai Yongjie, the memorial museum aims to connect all of the functions while at the same time providing access to the interior of the museum through man-made spaces in the grounds. The plan took the form of a torn earth crust, dramatically angled walls made of steel and a series of indoor-outdoor spaces with seating areas were created.The entrance to the museum is marked by a public square and a small tower. New trees have been planted on the rest of the land that will continue to grow and develop over time. The building establishes a strong dialogue with the environment, with spaces built underground, green roofs on its hills, lush scenery, rich shades of reddish rusted steel that acts as a visual contrast to the green environmental topography.The museum was opened to the public on the fifth anniversary of the earthquake in May 2013. &nbsp;

Resonet is an interactive illuminated sculpture that is displayed during the design week in the Swamp hutong region of Beijing. The multidisciplinary design office CPU’s aim was to create a public structure that illuminates the space as in response to any vibration stimuli. The sculpture takes its name 'resonet' from the combination of the words 'resonance' and 'network'.The design consists of two rings with LED lights, which are hung from trees in a network pattern over a public area. Vibration sensors attached to it detect vibrations produced by anything nearby, both manmade and nature. Whether it's a swing of a tree or a passing car, energy is transformed into the light that resonates throughout the structure, and the sculpture turn into a bright object for passers-by. &nbsp;The purpose of the "resonet" is to explore the boundaries between nature, art, architecture and technology by experimentation.&nbsp;Resonet also turns into an urban object and interacts with society. &nbsp;

In addition to its appearance as an aesthetic object, the '' earthquake lamp '' responds simultaneously to earthquakes occurring around the world, by producing light pulses and a robustious roar. The color-changing armature plays with the observer's behavior by creating a shift between anxiety and enchantment. The object also invites us to consider the reality and beauty of the fact that we live on a constantly moving planet.By the time the French artist Fabien Bouchard lived in Tokyo, he was deeply affected by the 2011 Tōhoku earthquake that occurred in Japan. Inspired by this tragic event, the lamp acts as a connection between the audience and our planet itself and symbolizes our instinctive fear of the power of nature.The lamp records earthquakes around the world and notifies us instantly. Based on IRIS (combined research institutions for seismology) data, the earthquake lamp transmits earthquakes occurring worldwide to the audience with only a few minutes of delay. This work of art can be thought of as a flattened 'planisphere' that represents the axis of longitudes.Light and sound alerts vary depending on the location and magnitude of the earthquake. Higher the magnitude of the earthquake, more impressive the sound of the alert.&nbsp; &nbsp;

More than 300,000,000 students worldwide face an imminent danger in their classrooms as their schools are not built to withstand a potential earthquake. Contrary to popular belief, student desks turn into deadly traps when used as a shelter during or after an earthquake, especially in areas that extend along the geological rift lines and where construction quality is poor. &nbsp;The "Earthquake Resistant Table" designed by Arthur Brutter and İdo Bruno is for various building types and collapse scenarios. It is an accessible design that does not cover the passageways for the rescue team reaching the post-incident area. It has successfully passed a series of vertical impact tests that have been carried out with great care in the laboratories and is currently awaiting the official approval of Italy's Padua University's world-leading structural engineering department. The durable yet cost-effective table is robust, ergonomic, light enough for two kids to lift and move, and is adapted for non-urgent routines such as classroom cleaning. In addition to different weight and ceiling collapse patents, they are manufactured with earthquake-resistant, responsible manufacturing methods and durable but inexpensive materials.

The installation called "Architecture of Sound" by Ronald van der Meijs from Amsterdam consists of a whole range of bicycle bells positioned very close to each other on steel pins. As the wind blows, one bicycle bell slowly hits another and rings it. When you walk around in the garden, an invisible breeze that contains an auditory component appears. This work, which is exhibited in Zwolle city of the Netherlands, offers an audio visual experience to its visitors within its context.The installation consists of 5500 chrome bicycle bells and mimics the form of the area that it sits on, namely from nature.The highest of the steel pins is 1 meter high. Visitors can physically interact with the work with all his senses while walking around the area.&nbsp;

With this solution, the designer wants to comprise a new architectural system that divides large workspaces. Its modular design and furniture can be fitted according to the user himself by using hooks and worktops. &nbsp;As a response to the dynamism of today’s workspace, the ‘buzzibracks’ consists of a soft structure that can act not only as a visual separation but also as an acoustic divider. Thus, an area of focused individual or group works to one of relaxation away from the rest of the office. The Margot Krasojevic Architectural Studio offers a hotel design that reduces seismic activities and minimizes the following destructions near the city of Naples, as a solution to the earthquake problem of Italy, which has increased frequency from the past to the present.The architecture of the proposal offered by the office has a program shaped according to the effects of earthquakes and tremors in the surrounding area. The design, which was developed with software simulations to better understand the effects of earthquakes on the earth, is aimed to minimize the effects caused by the earthquake with special choreographic fiction and seismic damper locking frames that reduce kinetic energy and provide a solution to vibration problems.The main idea of design consists of three separate elements which move away from each other when any activity is recorded by the hotel’s seismometers. &nbsp;The main schema, built on exposed foundations made of partially stacked rubber and lead plates, acts as a seismic isolator by sitting on a series of the parallelogram. Light elements, which reduce the vibration by reducing kinetic energy, displace from the landscape when the earthquake occurs and serve as a shock absorber between the topography and the structure.It provides an innovative architectural solution to the earthquake problem by allowing early earthquake warning signs, including seismic readings on seismic damper foundations, and seismic notifications received by GPS receivers, with its water tray reverberations that act as tremor detection elements. &nbsp;
